Golden Cenarth

Golden Cenarth
So let's quickly dash into the principality of Wales and just have a quick taste and see what's occurring...?

First let's visit  Lancych near Carmarthen and taste a bit of golden heaven with a lovely soft rind cheese called Golden Cenarth. This is a wash rind (in cider), semi soft cheese.  This cheese has a soft creamy texture and you can safely say there's a lovely warm mild hazelnut-like after taste.

This cheese has won many an award but winning the 2010 Supreme Champion at the British Cheese awards can't be sniffed at.

If bought as a whole cheese, it is presented in an individual wooden box and is superb little meal for two.  If you put it in the oven at 200 degrees for twenty minutes, then take it out and you have got yourselves a lovely little romantic fondue to share.

I kept this cheese for a few days to compare flavours and i certainly noticed the more slowly runny it became the more it increased the flavour. This cheese is certainly a lovely little taste of golden heaven .a cheese that can enjoyed on its own or cooked .For multitasking the brain and the taste-buds ,this can certainly be applauded.  To say it's the best there is, in my opinion, stretching the applause a bit to far.  This cheese is certainly good but unlike some European monastery cheeses, for me it didn't have that wow factor.  For this reason I  give this cheese a 3 out of 5.

  1. Oooh, this one looks lush, all stinky and gooey. It's been ages since I baked a stinky cheese so you've reminded me I should give that a go again.
